Ascenda Labs
Compounded
Therapeutics
All Ascenda products are processed, compounded, and fulfilled through a British Columbia-licensed compounding pharmacy, accompanied by a prescription issued by a licensed BC healthcare practitioner. Our proprietary formulations are designed to optimize therapeutic outcomes, including enhanced wound healing, improved wound closure, and reduced inflammation, while addressing unmet clinical needs for individuals who experience sensitivity or discomfort associated with the 0.9% benzyl alcohol found in standard Bacteriostatic Water.
Clinical Use
Common Uses of BAC Water
Reconstitution of Lyophilized Compounds
Used to convert freeze-dried formulations, including peptides, hormones, and biologics, into injectable preparations.
Dilution of Concentrated Solutions
Used to adjust concentration and dosing for clinical administration.
Diluent Function
Functional Role of Bacteriostatic Water
Bacteriostatic Water is intended solely as a sterile diluent for injectable medications. Its role includes:
- Bacteriostatic activity (inhibits bacterial growth, not bactericidal).
- Designed to reduce contamination risk during repeated multi-dose vial use through the addition of 0.9% benzyl alcohol.
- No intrinsic therapeutic activity, including wound healing or anti-inflammatory benefits.
Safety Considerations
Considerations with Benzyl Alcohol
Local Injection Site Reactions
- Localized irritation including redness, itching, burning, or discomfort.
- Injection-site swelling or erythema that may persist following administration.
- Potential nerve irritation if administered near sensitive structures.
Hypersensitivity Reactions
- Rare allergic responses, including systemic hypersensitivity reactions.
Peptide Integrity
Stability Considerations in Peptide Reconstitution
Many biologically active compounds, including peptide-based formulations, are supplied in lyophilized form due to limitations associated with long-term stability in ready-to-use liquid preparations. Following reconstitution, environmental and chemical factors including temperature, light exposure, oxygen, and diluent composition may affect molecular integrity and overall peptide performance over time. These factors may contribute to:
- Hydrolysis of amino acid peptide bonds.
- Structural changes that may influence peptide conformation.
- Reduced molecular stability over extended use periods.
- Potential declines in product consistency and performance.
NanoMatrix Platform
The Ascenda Approach
At Ascenda Labs, we approach peptide stability and contamination control differently. Rather than relying on traditional BAC Water, Ascenda compounding pharmacists utilize an ultra-dilute NanoMetallic Silver Oxide matrix (NanoMatrix) as a proprietary reconstitution platform.
Our NanoMatrix technology was selected due to demonstrated antimicrobial activity and potential wound-supportive properties. Published peer-reviewed research has evaluated NanoMetallic Silver technologies for their effects on wound repair and peptide delivery systems.
Published data has also explored synergistic effects between peptide therapies including GHK-Cu, BPC-157, and TB-500 and silver nanoparticle systems. Papaloanousa et al., Pharmaceutics (2025), reported significant improvements in wound healing and wound closure outcomes using peptide-integrated silver nanoparticle platforms.
NanoMatrix has additionally been associated with:
- Reduced injection-site discomfort (burning, stinging, swelling).
- Enhanced formulation stability.
- Improved usability and patient experience.
Standards
Quality Assurance
At Ascenda Labs, we maintain strict adherence to QA, QC, and infection-control protocols throughout every stage of production through:
- Independently verified third-party raw material testing.
- Pharmacy-grade compounding standards.
- Availability of both Lyophilized and Ready-To-Use (RTU) formulations.
- Precision-driven preparation protocols focused on consistency and reliability.
